I am totally shocked this morning to read of the loss of Bryan Kristopher Dale, from The Rogue Outdoors..
Bryan's death is being confirmed so I have no details to pass on at this time. Just wanted my fellow BlogBuddies to know of what I have learned this morning.
Bryan, has been a follower and supporter of my blogging efforts at Pond Stalker headquarters for quite some time. He often commented on my blog, as, I did his. In fact, my fly box for warm water fishing includes some Crappie patterns that he had sent to me to experiment with. I always appreciated his insight and blogging creativity. He has just recently, in the last year, became a married man. Most recently, he had remodeled his blog and it was looking top notch.
R.I.P. my friend. The blogging world will miss you.
The Pond Stalker sends my condolences to his family and all of his close, personal friends during this difficult time..............................................
****An update from Bryan's wife Jane:
For sure plans will be Friday funeral service for Bryan Kristofer Dale
in Marshalltown, Iowa. Approximate time at 11am Friday at family church
and then celebration of life (with memories of Bryan) to follow at the
country club. The church is fairly small so not all may fit there, but
family for sure would like a headcount regarding the celebration of life
service following so please respond here or to any of the Dale family.
They know you may be coming a long way and would like to welcome you. I
will provide more details later when I know them.
What a shame...Rest in Peace Bryan and condolences to his family and everyone that knew him.
ReplyDeleteIndeed a shame. He was so young and bright..............

ReplyDeleteWalt, thanks for a "classy" statement on behalf of Bryan and his family and your fellow fly fishers.....................
DeleteWow. Although I never met Bryan from his comments on my blog he just seemed like a good guy. I'm sure he will be missed. Condolences.
ReplyDeleteMy experiences shadow yours my friend. Bryan never hesitated to be of support and wanted nothing in return. Respected his approach a lot.....
DeleteI'm just going to say it, this sucks. Bryan was a good guy from what I could tell. We traded a bunch of emails over the past few years and he seemed to be headed for some really great things. Really glad you put this together Mel. He'll be missed. Condolences to out to his family & friends.
ReplyDeleteMichael, I am glad that you went right ahead and said it! It sure does suck...... I know that he thought a lot of you and really appreciated the help and support you gave him on his blog format. It is my duty to share this loss with all my blogging friends. Bryan deserved that much for sure. I know he will be missed around Pond Stalker Headquarters.
DeleteSo young.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with the family.
So full of life...............
DeleteWords just don't seem to be able to flow........................
Thank you, Alan.
Very deeply sadden to have seen this, as I have just returned from a wake. I really enjoyed his written words, and his eye for photography. His blog was one of the first ones I started following, I believe. He will definitely be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks, Justin, for sharing your experiences you had with Bryan. He seemed to be such a bright light for the younger generation of fly fishers. He most definitely will be missed by all those of us who interacted with him from the blogger scene.

ReplyDeleteWhat a shock, Bryan often commented on my blog as well. One never knows what the future holds for us. I assume Bryan was much younger than a lot of us, and that is what makes this so devastating. Our prayers are with his family--thanks for sharing
Thank you, Bill, for sharing your blogging experience with Bryan. Your observation is very true! Each day is a blessing for we know not what is ahead of us.
DeleteWow... Bryan came over to my blog quite often with such nice comments. This is sad news. Thanks for sharing the info. Funny how our circle is kind of a fishing family, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteEmily, very definitely a shock................. Death often times catches us unprepared for the grief that goes with it all. I really like your observation on our circle of blogging friends being family. Happy when we gain one, and, very sad when we lose one.
DeleteWow, this is terrible news. "Atlas" was, from what I could tell based on my experiences with him, a fantastic person. To think he has passed on at such a young age, and freshly married is very sad. Shocking. This will take some time to sink in...
ReplyDeleteWill
Hi, Will. Thanks for the visit and leaving a comment on this post and during this very difficult time. I only new Bryan from online and as a blogging friend. We did have several communications about some Crappie flies. He sent me some to add to my warm water box. I always looked forward to his comments and also to his posts on his blog. Clearly, very shocking and very, very sad for his family and his young wife. Thanks for sharing your feelings.
DeletePond Stalker, do you know if there is an address where a card could be sent? Thank you - Will
ReplyDeleteWill, I have sent a message to his wife asking for a little more information. As soon as I know, I will post the information here. Look for an update!
DeleteAwesome - Thanks Mel!
DeleteBe well
Will
Bryan ("Atlas" as I knew him) was a really delightful presence in the fishing blogger community. I only wish I had gotten to meet him in person. Aside from a passion for fishing, he and I shared a common interest in searching out reptiles in the wild- "herping" as we call it. I'm sure we would have been great friends had we lived in the same neck of the woods. Thanks for sharing this news, Mel... as truly saddening as it is.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jay, for the visit and leaving a comment sharing your connection with Bryan. Indeed, Bryan was a delight to know through the blogging community. He seemed to have a strong passion to share with others he came in contact with online. From what I know of you, and, from what I knew of Bryan, you are very right. You would have been great friends.
DeleteBy the way, where have you been. Still waiting to see more from your blog..........
I miss seeing that guys comments on my blog. Every time I catch a Crappie on a Sarge's i will think of him. RIP Bryan
ReplyDeleteJuan, I hear you on this one. I miss interacting with him also. I will have to tie a Sarge's Crappie fly in honor of him.
DeleteJust seeing this....SHOCKER!! I want to know the details, but perhaps it isn't necessary?
ReplyDeleteWow...very sad. Thanks for making this post on his behalf, Mel. Keep on fishing, Bryan.
