Colorado Flood Perspective

Depending on what part of the United States you happen to live in, you may not have been inundated with video from the massive floods that have wrecked Northern Colorado in the past few days. Thought I would post a couple of videos from near my home in Loveland, Colorado, near the banks of what is (was) The Big Thompson River.  Just needing to take in it all, and somehow, have a perspective that I live here and fish here often.  Just not in the last few days!  If you haven't seen these on You Tube already, here are a couple of borrowed ones.  Pond Stalker Headquarters appreciate those who took their time to shoot the videos.

First video is from not too far from town as one would begin travel up Big Thompson Canyon.

The second video is from about a mile from my home where I have spent lots of time with my family enjoying The Big Thompson water.

  1. To help me put things into perspective, I have now lived through 2 100 year floods here. Here's hoping this one is over. Thanks for posting these Mel.

    1. Howard, I was thinking we were about the same age, but, it sounds to me like you have been around a couple of century's! Just kidding, hope all is well and your as dry as possible. By the way, if we can find the time, we shouldn't have any trouble casting in open water!

  2. I'll take this as confirmation that you're high and dry.

    1. Mark, you can take it as confirmation that I live about a 1/2 mile from the river itself and kind of on a little higher ground than some of my neighbors. I cannot confirm dry, as nothing or no one is dry in Northern Colorado right now. Take care my friend.

    1. Bill, like the James Taylor song, "I have seen Fire and I have seen Rain". Mother Nature has a grip on Colorado this year. Thanks for thinking of us out this way.

    1. Thanks, Daniel, I have been in a lot of precarious situations before, but, never anything like this. It just started raining again this evening so no break in sight yet. Will be as safe as I can be.

    1. Good Morning, Dean! Sure nice to hear from you this morning. Going to be a bad day today. It is raining heavily this morning. More water and damage on top of the water and damage from the past few days. Unbelievable is truly the only word to describe what is happening here. Thanks, my friend for your prayers.
