I wonder What It Could Be?

Ok, blogging friends of the Pond Stalker, I need your help here.  You see I was sent this picture this morning from a dear friend I have never met.  It is suppose to arrive in a few days and I am wondering what in the tarnation could it be.  It's a surprise!

I noticed the word "Fragile" marked on a couple of spots on the package in the picture.  Fragile means something that might break if smashed.  Boy, am I excited, however, I am not sure what in the world it could be.

I am sure that it must have something to do with Fly Fishing since that is how I made the connection with this dear friend.  I like Fly Fishing "stuff".  My wife says I have too much fly fishing stuff already.  She's wrong!

But, fragile, come on now.  I need some help trying to determine what fly fishing "stuff" could be regarded as fragile.  I have ruled out a fly rod.  Don't think it fits in a square box like that.  Can't be a fly reel because they are not meant to be treated so fragile.  New hats, new flies, I have pondered them.  But, Fragile!

So, I turn to you my readers and ask, "Wonder what it could be?"  I would be interested in knowing what you think might be headed my way that is fragile and for fly fishing.  Let's get some ideas going here before it arrives.  I can't wait!

  1. My money is on a vise with a built in light. Or cookies.

    1. Josh, good thought there. I would be ticked with a new vise or fly tying light. However, I love cookies, too. The wait begins!

    2. You know my fingers are slower these days. I meant to say "Tickled" not "Ticked". Gosh, I am getting old!

  2. It's the rest of the cookies that Howard didn't eat.

    1. No way, Kevin. If you knew Howard, you would know he always hordes the good stuff. For example, look at his collection of glass rods and reels. Those "Cookies" didn't stand a chance of surviving!

  3. If it was flat I'd say its a painting buuuut since its square I'd say Josh has it nailed. The only fishing thing fragile I've ever got was vice. Might be a carved or stuffed fish though.

    1. Joel, any of those suggestions would be fantastic! I need to spruce up my fly tying area and surrounding walls. Still waiting!

    1. Nope, Daniel, no way, nada, ain't going to happen. See my comment to Kevin above. Howard is a great guy, but, he "really" like cookies. Mine and those intended for you, too!

  5. With just the word "Fragile" on it makes it a Major Award (Christmas Story). My guess is a leg lamp. OK, I've been breathing too much smoke.

    1. Mark, I would really think that a desk top "leg lamp" would be ideal for my tying table. My fly tying is already erratic, it would even get more out of focus with a "leg lamp". Gosh, I hope Howard didn't send me a piece of leg in the mail!

  6. I'm sorry guys but what is this leftover thing you speak of? Now if I was a betting man I would guess that it's a trout I caught last week that I sent to you for dinner the day it arrives.

    1. Howard, I have already spoken to your ability to have any leftover cookies for me or anyone else. You da' Cookie Monster! If that package smells like last week's trout, I am going to feed the neighbors cat with it. Maybe, I should go cat fishing with it!

  7. I'm thinking it might be Italian. Perhaps a major award?

I guess in the end, as long as you don't hear any ticking from it, open that baby up!

    1. Nick, that would be rather unusual alright. I have never been "Awarded" anything except traffic tickets, an opportunity long ago to say "Good Morning, VietNam", and a night or two on the couch for being naughty!

I am worried about it ticking, though. Do you think........................

It has to be a glass plaque commemorating your new blog “The Pond Stalker”—

    1. Wow, Bill, nice thought! Hadn't considered that one. Anything to get a few readers over here and a sense of community with my fellow bloggers is worth it for me.
